Germán Asensi


At 14 he played his first concert with the Symphonic Orchestra of Valencia. He studied with teachers like Leopoldo Vidal, Pierre Thibaud, Thomas Stevens, Bo Nilsson, Claude Vasse, Peter Masseurs, Max Sommerhalder, and H. Handerberger.

 

In 1993 he participated in the International Trumpet Competition of Toulon, France. He achieved the first places and obtained an outstanding place in the International Competition of Porcia, Italy in 1999. In 2002 he was one of the finalists of the International Competition “Raimo Sarmas” in Lieska, Finland.

 

He has played with the Orchestras of Córdoba, Asturias, Symphonic Orchestra of Madrid and the Community of Madrid Orchestra. German also had performances with chamber music groups at the most important Spanish auditoriums like Juan March Foundation, National Auditory, Auditory of Zaragoza, Thyssen Museum, Palacio Real, the Royal Academy of Performance arts of San Fernando and Concerts Society of Barcelona city.

 

As a concert soloist he had played with the Chamber Orchestra of Queen Sofia, playing the Brandenburg Concert Number 2 in F Major. German Asensi also played with the Orchestra of the city of Joennnsu, Finland and recently he opened in Spain the Double Concert for trumpet and trombone of Jan Koetsier with the RTVE Symphonic Orchestra.

 

His wide repertory covers all the ages, since the renaissance to the contemporary music, especially recent recordings for the RNE and TVE (Classical music Chanel) of baroque and contemporary music. In these recordings German opened new musical works in Spain.

 

German is also a group member of the Diffusion of Contemporary Music Chamber “Modus Novus” and the “Point of view” duet (trumpet and percussion).

 

He is soloist in the Symphonic Orchestra of RTVE, he is member of this orchestra since 1994. He also teaches in the Royal Music Conservatory of Madrid and is teacher in the High Studies Center for Trumpet in Madrid.

 

German is an eager collaborator as teacher in the Youth National Orchestra of Spain and in the Youth Symphonic Band of the Community of Madrid.
