He has received chamber music prizes as "Ciudad de Manresa", "Montserrat Alavedra" of Terrassa and the prestigious "Wettbewerbs für Blechbläserquintette” of Moers (Germany).
He was born in Bétera (Valencia) and started his musical studies with his father, he later attended the High Education Music Conservatory of Valencia and achieved the degree of Trombone Teacher in High Education, he also achieved an outstanding Honor Recognition in the Elementary and Middle school and the Honor Recognition at the end of his High studies.
At age 19 he obtained the soloist trombone chair of the Symphonic Orchestra of Bilbao. That year he became trombone teacher of the Royal High Music Conservatory of Madrid and then of the Professional Music Conservatory “Teresa Berganza” of the same city.
He has improved his knowledge thanks to teachers like Gilles Milliere, Michel Becquet, Branimir Slokar, Armin Rosin, Stephen Mead, and Mel Coulbertson.
He has played with many symphonic orchestras and chamber music groups like: RTVE Orchestra, National Orchestra of Spain, Symphonic Orchestra of Madrid, Orchestra of the Community of Madrid, City of Granada Orchestra, Spanish Youth National Orchestra, Virtuosos of Moscu, Cambra del Teatre Lluire of Barcelona Orchestra, Municipality of Madrid Symphonic Band, Royal Chapel of Madrid, Capella of Ministrers, Valencian Community “Les Arts” Symphonic Orchestra, Spanish Brass-Luur Metalls, Trombone quartet of Milliere.
Carlos had taught improvement and master classes in Altea, Villena (Alicante), Alcázar de San Juan (Ciudad Real), Minglanilla (Cuenca), Albaida, Cullera, Catarroja, Castelló de la Ribera and Alzira (Valencia), and the Conservatories of Córdoba and Murcia, the Professional Conservatories of Huesca, Campo de Criptana, Cartagena, Soira Carcaixent, Monzón, Utiel, Ontinyen and Elda. He has been invited as specialist teacher in the Students Orchestra of the Community of Madrid and in the Youth Orchestra of Murcia.
Carlos Gil is also a founder member of the Spanish Trombone Quartet, the Iberbrass Quintet and the Pianobrass Quartet. He has played with those groups in festivals like: the 9th Meeting of Composers of COSICOVA, the 11th International Concerts of the city of Navajas, the International Music Fest of Sabadell, the 13th Serenates d’estiu of Cala Rajada (Palma de Mallorca), Fest of d’Orgué of Santa María de Maó (Menorca) and the 36th International Horn Symposium.

Carlos has played solos in different festivals: the 7th Journey of informatics and Electronic music (CDMC), the 7th Cycle of Contemporary Music of the Vostell Museum of Malpartida, Punto de Encuentro Fest, Concerts Phonos, Spanish Brass Fest, Spanish BrassSourround Torrent, Contemporary Music Fest of Alicante, Mostra Sonora de Sueca (Valencia), Cicle 5 segles de música a L’Eliana (Valencia), the 13th Journey of Contemporary Music of Cordoba, Ensems Fest of Valencia, and as member of several symphonic and chamber music groups around Spain, Italy, Portugal, Germany, France, and Netherlands.
He is working with the Diffusion of Contemporary Music Center and the Phonos Foundation of Barcelona in a series of concerts for trombone and electro-acoustic instruments. Some of these concerts had been broadcasting for RNE and some of the concerts are recorded in CD’s (Music minus one II: Alegrías, of José Iges y Snapdragon of Alexandra Gardner). In 2005 he was the soloist invited at the International Conference Music Computer. He has opened music for trombones and electro-acoustics of composers like Vicente Roncero, Andrés Lewin-Richter, Ricardo Climent, Gabriel Brcnic, Alexandra Gardner, Alejandro Trapero y Voro García.
He also opened music in Spain in the concert for trombone and amplify ensemble of Aureliano Cattaneo and the work Contextos for trombone and three instruments of Elena Mendoza, he played with the group Espai Sonor conducted by Voro García. In 2008 he launch his first CD Carlos Gil Ferrer, trombó, with six works for trombone and electronic (ARS HARMONICA AH 192).
Carlos Gil, along with Indalecio Bonet, are the architects of the creation of the trombone Stomvi Titan, the involvement of both was definitive for the instrument to achieve the desired qualities.
At the moment Carlos Gil Ferrer is a trombone teacher at the Municipality Conservatory “José Iturbi” of Valencia and together with Indalecio Bonet of the “Aula de trombó”. He is a member of groups: Pianobrass and Valencia Brass Band.
